SUSEN FAYE HEDBERG, age 70, of Chisago City died peacefully on June 4, 2023 after a long battle with lung disease.
Born on September 27, 1952 in Albert Lea, Susen was the daughter of Chester and Sophia (Tesch) Hedberg. Sue grew up in the village of Waldorf in southern Minnesota. She was interested in sports and fishing as a teenager and remained passionate about fishing up until her death. After graduating from high school, Sue enlisted in the U.S. Army and entered the military on her eighteenth birthday. She made lifelong friends during the three years she was in the service, many of whom connected with her often throughout the years. Whether living out of state or her home state of Minnesota, family was very important to her. She was always thrilled to learn of the birth of a new great-niece or great-nephew, and she made every effort to remember everyone’s birthday, and would send Christmas cards to family and friends each year. It was a blessing that Sue was able to visit with many family members and friends the week before her death, this helped sustain her and ease her passing.
Sue is survived by her siblings, Rodney (Elizabeth) Hedberg of Chisago City, MN, Carter (Wayne) Hedberg Schmidt of Ketchum, ID, and Carol (John) Warner of Upsala, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Sophia Hedberg.
A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at First Lutheran Church Cemetery in Waldorf with Pastor Michael Mathews officiating. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service is handling arrangements.
