Steven Mark Buecksler, age 69, of Mankato, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026, at his home.
Steven was born on April 4, 1956, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Lawrence and Evelyn (Radke) Buecksler. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1974.
Throughout his life, Steve worked a variety of jobs. As a single man, he especially cherished time spent with his family, and he rarely missed a gathering. In his later years, he and his mother developed an especially close bond, attending many events together, including trips to casinos and Oktoberfest celebrations. He also traveled regularly to Texas during the winter months to visit her. Steve enjoyed listening to music—especially the Grateful Dead and Willie Nelson. He loved his family deeply and was known for his thoughtfulness, never forgetting to call each of them on their birthdays.
Steve is survived by his sister, Connie (Dan) Froehlich of Mankato; nephews, Kyle (Beth) Froehlich and Paul Froehlich, all of St. Clair; niece, Kelsey (Dan) Goettlicher of Mapleton; great-nephews and great-nieces, Landon, Lincoln, and Sydney Froehlich, and Mason and Anika Goettlicher; uncles, Chester, Wayne, and Kenneth Radke; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann Marie; and stepfather, Walter Schostag.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Interment will take place at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair.
