ROGER HENRY SCHWARTZ, age 78 of Waterville, died at home in the presence of his family on the evening of Monday, October 13, 2025.
Roger was born in Faribault on April 4, 1947, to parents Henry and Helen (Williams) Schwartz. He grew up going to school in Waterville where he excelled in the band and became captain of the wrestling team. After graduating from Waterville High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mankato where he studied early childhood and special education. He began his working life as the Head Start Coordinator for southern Minnesota, but as his family grew, he left education and began a career at Brown Printing in Waseca that would continue for over forty years. Roger was married and divorced twice. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and just being outside. He was a lifelong biker and although he couldn’t ride his Fat Boy in recent years the idea of a ride was never far away. Roger was also a firearm aficionado that collected rifles, shotguns, and handguns, and he was a former member of the Waseca Sportsman’s Club.
Roger is survived by two children, Jeff (Georgia) Schwartz of Waterville and Jenny (Jason) Bellrichard of Austin; six grandchildren, Cameron Schwartz, Madison Bellrichard, Lyndsey Bellrichard, Morgan Styke, Bailey Schwartz, and Cole Schwartz; five great-grandchildren, Gavin, Bobby, Izavier, Henry, and Izahri; and a very special canine friend, Zerella. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Jane Schwartz; and his oldest grandson, Hunter Schwartz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Services, with Rev. Paige Whitney officiating. Friends and family are encouraged to ride their motorcycles to honor Roger with one last ride. Visitation will be held from 12:00p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
