Robert James Harris Jr of Waseca, Minnesota passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 24, 1950, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Robert Sr. and Gertrude (Bell) Harris. He was raised in the Scranton area and graduated from Central High School in 1967. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. On June 26, 1971, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda McManamon, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The couple lived briefly in Okinawa, Japan, before his discharge from the Army, after which they relocated to Minnesota and made their home in Waseca where they raised their two sons.
Robert built a career in the cable television industry in Waseca; later retiring from Itron. He had a passion for deer hunting and made it a tradition to return to Pennsylvania each year to hunt alongside his father. Another of his treasured passions was his model train collection; each year, he proudly displayed a track and train beneath their Christmas tree. He and his wife shared a love of travel, exploring destinations across the United States together and with their family, from treasured national parks to relaxing tropical cruises. One of their favorite destinations was Colorado, where they delighted in the breathtaking scenery and treasured the time spent with their sons and grandchildren. Robert truly cherished being a grandfather and took great joy in watching and supporting the many activities his grandchildren were involved in.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; sons, Robert (Cori) Harris and Michael (Crystal) Harris; six grandchildren, Blaine, Cassandra, Kaylee, Ethan, Brendan, and Dylan; sister, Judy Tyler; in-laws, John (Sandy) Lowry, Ron (Julie) Lowry, Eileen Lowry; and Step-Mother, Catherine Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
