Richard "Rick" Craig McGuire

RICHARD “RICK” CRAIG McGUIRE, age 74 of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Waseca, died unexpectedly on April 20, 2026 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Rick was born in Waseca on September 3, 1951, to parents George and Dorothy McGuire. He graduated from Waseca High School before continuing his education at Metro State University in Saint Paul where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Throughout his working years he moved between Waseca, Florida, and the Twin Cities while he worked as a chemical dependency counselor. Rick had previously had his own struggles with alcohol and drug dependency, but he was very proud of his sobriety, his leadership role within Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous, and his ongoing efforts to help others that shared his story. He later went on to own and operate McGuire’s Collectibles and a lawn service. He enjoyed archery, hunting, fishing, and collecting baseball cards, stamps, and chips from various sobriety programs.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Nicole McGuire of Faribault; two grandchildren, Amber (Nate) Nybo of Faribault and Julius McGuire of Mankato; three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Judy McGuire, Shirley Geraghty, Mike McGuire and his significant other, Colleen Callahan, and Sharon (Jim) Rueth; and many nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother in infancy, George McGuire, Jr; and two sisters, Jean (Bill) Hesse and Betty (Tenny) Ellerbusch.

A private family graveside service will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
