It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy (Reinhold, Fliflet) Berndt, age 72, who passed away at her home surrounded by family on the evening of November 21, 2025.
Nancy was born on April 14, 1953, to Howard and Mary Reinhold. She was the oldest of three children, growing up alongside her siblings Michael and Patricia.
In 1970, Nancy married William Fliflet, and together they welcomed three children: David (Jennifer) Fliflet, Debra (Eric) McAlister, and Joseph (Kristin) Fliflet.
In February of 1994, she married Norman Berndt in Waseca, gaining two stepsons: Aaron (Maike) Berndt and Lucas Berndt.
Nancy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She will be forever remembered for her fierce love, unwavering devotion, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the comforting smell of something delicious cooking. Family was everything to her, and she leaves behind a profound legacy in the hearts of those who loved her.
After raising her children, Nancy worked as a cook at Lakeshore Inn and Colony Court before spending 18 years at Itron, where she retired in 2020. During her years in Waseca, she was an active part of the senior community. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, shopping, playing Bingo and cards, and taking the occasional trip to the casino where she often seemed to find a small jackpot waiting for her.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mary, her husband Norman, and her great-grandson Mykel.
She is survived by her children, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Brittany, Joshua, Faith (Chanse), Jordan, Daniel, Lucas, Kadyn, Ashley, Kylie, Avery, Ava, Paisley, Adelaide, Gavin, Josephine, Paislee, Leo, Grayson, and Pepper, as well as extended family and many friends who felt like family.
Her memory will be cherished always, and she will be missed immensely.
A celebration of Nancy’s incredible life will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 1–3 PM at Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral Home, 109 3rd St NE, Waseca, MN. Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Waseca Senior Citizen Center in Nancy’s name.
