Michael J. Decoux Sr. January 10, 1943 - April 29, 2014

Michael J. Decoux Sr., age 71, of Ramsey, MN and formerly of Faribault, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his home in Ramsey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to the services at the church.

Michael Joseph Decoux was born on January 10, 1943 in Faribault to Joseph and Lucille (Chavie) Decoux. He graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1960 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving for six years. Mike was united in marriage to Virginia "Ginger" Giefer on May 7, 1966 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2005. Mike was world renowned for his expertise with engines and mechanics. He also invented many tools that were patented. He worked for Drag Specialties before owning and operating his business, Decoux Engineering. Mike specialized in the repair and specialty mechanics of Harley Davidsons. Some of his famous works included, mechanical work for Evel Knieval''s bike, Crazy Kane''s bike (12 time hill climbing champion), and was an advisor for the bike that beat Kawasaki in the land speed record. He then worked for Mate Punch & Die and Jet Edge. Mike was a three-time champion at North Star Drag. He was known internationally for his mechanical talents and was often sent engines from all parts of the world for him to repair. He also provided his talents for bike repair or custom work for many famous people.

He is survived by his son, Michael Decoux Jr. of Blaine; grandson, Gregory Decoux; brother, Dennis DeCoux of Faribault; sister, Debbie DeCoux of Owatonna; and many other relatives and friends.
