MARVIN “CURT” WETZEL, age 69 of North Mankato, MN and Yuma, AZ died on the morning of Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
Born in Faribault on April 1, 1952, Curt was the son of Marvin David and Viola Clarice (Hansen) Wetzel. When he was young he attended school in Waterville before finishing his schooling at the Waseca Agricultural School. Curt served his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. On December 19, 1970 Curt was married to Audrey Skelton at the United Methodist Church in Waterville. Together they had two sons, and later divorced. In the late 1970’s he purchased the Bix Furniture Clinic in Waterville from his brother Donald. He continued to operate that business for over thirty years in addition to renting several apartments in the building and operating a laundromat in Waterville. He was a past member of the Waterville City Council and the Waterville United Methodist Church, and he enjoyed woodworking, whittling, remodeling, and upholstery.
Curt is survived by his significant other, Deb Hall of North Mankato; two sons, Paul (Suzy) Wetzel of Fort Worth, TX, and Jerald Wetzel of Mankato; two grandsons, Michael and Ryan Wetzel of Fort Worth, TX; five siblings, Donald (Arlene) Wetzel of Waterville, Bonnie Bongers of Faribault, Suzie (Dave) Degen of Faribault, Becky (Gail) Chase of Evergreen, CO, Brad (Sandy) Wetzel of Northfield, and Greg (Kate) Wetzel of St. Louis Park; as well as many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; two brothers, Jerold and Neil Wetzel; and one brother-in-law, Kenny Bongers.
A public visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services. A private family interment will take place at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. dennisfuneralhomes.com
