MARK KENNETH SPITZACK, age 64, of Kasson, formerly of Janesville, passed away on May 28, 2026, in Kasson.
Mark was born on August 20, 1961, in Mankato, Minnesota, to Orlando and Mabel (Heyer) Spitzack. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Morristown and attended North Morristown Trinity Lutheran School through eighth grade and later graduated from Morristown High School.
Mark was united in marriage to Brenda Flitter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. They shared many years together and later divorced.
Throughout his life, Mark was known as a dedicated public servant and hardworking individual. He worked at Brown Printing in Waseca and later served as a correctional officer for Rice County Sheriff’s Office. Mark was especially proud of his service to the Janesville Fire Department, where he served as Fire Chief. He was a reliable leader, a strong advocate for firearm safety, and someone who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.
Those who knew Mark will remember his kind heart, quiet nature, and sense of humor. He enjoyed bringing joy to others and was a devoted uncle who took an active role in the lives of his nieces and nephews. Mark loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to hunting trips and annual fishing adventures to Canada.
Mark is survived by his siblings, Albert (Charla) Spitzack of Morristown, JoAnn (Jim) Flicek of Faribault, and Barb Duhme of Faribault; his nieces and nephews, Jeremy, Hannie, Jan, Jon, Jody, Charlotte, Thad, Isaiah, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Mabel Spitzack, and his nephew, Jimmy.
Mark's legacy of service, generosity, and dedication to his family, friends, and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial service will be at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
