Marguerite “Maggie” Jeanette Salzle, age 98, of Waseca, MN passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025.
Born on March 15, 1927, in Waterville, she was the daughter of Francis and Grace (Seifert) Frodel. She grew up in the Waterville-Elysian area and graduated from high school in 1945. Following her graduation she began her working career. She met the handsome Clarence Salzle at the Bowling Alley his family operated and their love story began. They were married on August 20, 1951, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Waterville, MN. Shortly after they were wed they settled down in Waseca where they raised their three children. Together, she and Clarence ran their business, Salz Sales, where Maggie handled all the baking and cooking, ensuring their baked goods and delicious sloppy joes were available each day. She enjoyed managing the business while also balancing her time at home, being there for her children before and after school. She later worked at Gambles and Charlie’s Hardware, remaining there until she was 89 years old.
She and Clarence enjoyed their annual September trips to Branson, Missouri, as well as traveling with Donna throughout the United States and Canada, and taking van road trips with JoAnn and Joe. Together, they visited 50 states!
In her earlier years, she loved playing piano at Hardegger’s Ballroom; a talent she developed entirely by ear, without ever learning to read music. She also enjoyed going to the Bandwagon show in Mankato to listen to polka music. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother, and she loved making gingerbread men cookies with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, JoAnn (Joe) Bluth, Donna Salzle, and Mike (Gloria) Salzle; grandchildren, Peter (Nell) Bluth, Tony (Kari) Bluth, Carrie Bluth, David (Leticia Banuelos) Salzle, Marcie (Evan Ross) Salzle, and Michael Salzle; great-grandchildren, Lucy Bluth, Calvin Bluth, Millie Bluth, and Elton Ross; many nieces and nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence in 2004; and her sister, Lucille Frodel.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, MN; Father Glenn Frerichs will officiate. Maggie’s family will greet guests at a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waterville, MN.
Memorials can be made to Waseca Sacred Heart School or donor’s choice.
