LucilleMarionGruss,thedaughterofEdwardand Mabel(Maxwell)Gruss,wasbornonJune22,1915inNorthfield,MN.Sheattended FaribaultHighSchoolandgraduatedwiththeclassof1933.Followinghighschool,Betty attendedSt.Mary''sHallinFaribaultfortwoyearsthenearnedherTeachingCertificate fromtheSouthDakotaSchoolfortheDeaftoteachdeafstudents.Bettyfirsttaughtin SouthDakotaandlatermovedontoFrederick,Maryland,CedarSprings,SCandfor22 yearstaughtattheMinnesotaStateAcademyfortheDeafinFaribault.Bettyloved teachingandbeingwithchildren.ShetaughtSundayschoolformanyyearsatthe CongregationalChurchinFaribaultandinretirementworkedwithCambodianfamiliesthat movedtoFaribaultteachingthemEnglish.Bettyalsoenjoyedbaking,readingandloved birds.ShewasamemberoftheFaribaultWomen''sClubandwasanactivememberat theCongregationalChurchofFaribault. Sheissurvivedbyhersister,SallyGruss ofBettendorf,IA;byfiveniecesandnephews,WendySeverns,SusanLeece,Roger GrussJr.,EdwardGrussJr.andMaryPerroneandotherrelativesandfriends. She wasprecededindeathbyherparents,byhertwobrothers,EdwardGrussSr.andRoger GrussSr.andbyhernephewChristianGruss.
