LuAnn Marie Garcia

Lu Ann Marie Garcia, age 71, of Mankato, passed away on December 17, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Lu Ann was born on July 3, 1954, in Janesville, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy (Erdman) Witt. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in her faith during her youth at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She attended Trinity Lutheran School through eighth grade before graduating from Janesville High School with the Class of 1972.

Throughout her career, Lu Ann worked in the insurance industry, most notably with Round Bank in Waseca. She also enjoyed working from home in online sales. Known for her humor, she delighted her grandchildren with stories—sometimes true, sometimes not—and cherished every moment spent with them. Above all, she devoted herself to her son, always putting him first.

Later in life, Lu Ann met the love of her life, Raymond Garcia. They were united in marriage on September 17, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and together they made their home in Mankato.

Lu Ann was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville for most of her life. In recent years, she and Raymond attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in Mankato, though she always considered Janesville her true home.

She is survived by her devoted husband of nine years, Raymond; son, Adam Witt; stepdaughter, Angela Garcia; step-grandchildren, Luciana and Trelin; sister, Norma Jean (Glenn) Kessler; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. John Koopman officiating. Interment will follow at Alma City Cemetery.
