LOUISE IRENE LONEY, age 72, of Waterville, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Traditions of Waterville.

Born on August 31, 1952, in Mankato, she was the daughter of Leighton and Burdelle (Barkeim) Lloyd. Louise was a dedicated lifelong learner, beginning her education in Mankato and graduating with the Mankato West High School class of 1970. She continued her studies at Viterbo University in Madison, Wisconsin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospital Administration. In 1986, she obtained her MBA from Mankato State University and later spent two semesters studying at the University of Oslo in the 2000s. A self-taught linguist, she often assisted friends by editing their doctoral and master's theses.

Louise began her career with the State of Wisconsin, working in medical records, before moving to Iowa, where she held various positions in Medical Records Administration. After receiving her MBA, she served as the Director of the Oncology Department at Immanuel – St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. She later worked for AT&T, contributing to the development of voice recognition devices for the medical field, and concluded her career at SenSoft International, where she cataloged services for government contract holders before retiring in 2011.

While pursuing her MBA, Louise met Allan Roy Loney, and they were married on April 11, 1987, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Although they did not have children, their nieces and nephews always held a special place in their hearts.

Louise enjoyed traveling, wintering at Lake Havasu, reading, and spending time with her family. She took pride in her Norwegian heritage, evident in her paintings, stitching, and the creation of traditional Norwegian dresses and lefse. Louise was a member of the Swede Adelines, Elysian American Legion Auxiliary, and St. Paul Lutheran Church in German Lake, where she was actively involved with the Ladies Aid and the Red Hat Society.

Louise is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, Al; brother, Leighton “Kim” (Rhonda) Lloyd of Waterville; sisters-in-law Sonya Hansen of Janesville and Joyce (David) Richards of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews: Aubrey (Troy) Wetzel, Emily (Andrew) Kratzer, Allison (Chris) Madrinich, Andrew (Ashley) Lloyd, Erik (Ashley) Lloyd, Brittany (Toby) Erler, Alair Lloyd, and Ryan Drake, aunt, Judith Hansen; along with other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Lloyd; and brother-in-law, Russell Hansen.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church in Janesville. Visitation will take place for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
