Leray "Blackie" Webber

LeRAY “BLACKIE” WEBBER, age 76 of Waseca died on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on February 7, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he was the son of Francis and Irene (Peek) Webber. He attended school in Waseca. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1966. While in the Navy, he served on the USS Sellers. Blackie married Judy Gilster on March 30, 1985 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Following his time in the service, he was employed at the asphalt plant west of Waseca. After the plant closed in 1989, they moved to Le Sueur where he worked at Green Giant as a boiler operator until 1991 when they returned to Waseca. He then worked at the Waseca Medical Center until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed camping, fishing, collecting coins and woodworking. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Waseca; daughter, Tammy (Gilster) & Jason Buchmann of Avondale, AZ and son, Christopher & Kate Webber of Waverly; four grandchildren, Michael Spitzack, Natasha Spitzack, Crystal Gilster, and Jack Webber; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, LeRoy “Blondie” & Arlys Webber of Moose Lake; one nephew; three nieces; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
