LARRY M GILMORE, age 80, of Waterville died Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 3, 1945, in San Francsico, California, a son of Lawrence and Esther (Wodrich) Gilmore. He grew up in Big Bear Lake, CA, where he attended school. In 1974 he moved to Greenfield, Iowa and worked for Cardinal Glass for 13 years. In 1987, he moved to Waseca and worked for Viracon for 20+ years as a Production Supervisor. On April 4, 1988, he married Betty Richards in Waseca and together they moved to Waterville in 1989 where they raised their seven children. Larry had a passion for cooking and camping but most of all, the love he had for his family. He loved making the holidays special for his children and grandchildren. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He was proud to be the caramel and cotton candy maker at the farmer’s market in Waseca for many years.
He is survived by his wife; children, Brenda (Dan) Hazen of Marysville, Washington, Jacquie (Tracy) Gilmore of Marysville, Victor (Erin) Gilmore of Waseca, Mike (Lori) Gilmore of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Lare’ Gilmore of Creston, Iowa, Chris (Jill) Braye of Marshalltown, Iowa, Kari Braye of Owatonna, Sandy (Jeff) Bouie of Germany; daughter-in-law, Cindy Gilmore; 18 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brother Charlie (Rosa) Peetris of Brevard, North Carolina and sister Carolann Desalvo of Oregon. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, son, Christopher Gilmore who preceded him in death in 2001, sister at birth, Nancy and sister Sherry.
A private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In Lieu of Flowers, please direct contributions to St. Croix Hospice. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.
