Kevin Michael McShane

 Kevin Michael McShane passed away on December 14, 2025 at his home in Waseca. He was 61 years old.

The son of Joseph and Leona (Kramer) McShane, Kevin was born on June 5, 1964 in Waseca, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm in the Waseca area and graduated in 1985 from Owatonna High School. As a youngster, Kevin was mischievous and imaginative, often spending hours playing in his playhouse on the farm. He was a big fan of Gilligan’s Island and even named his dog “Skipper.” He watched the episodes over and over, never getting tired of them. As he grew older, he began recording the show on VHS tapes and continued watching his favorite episodes again and again. He even had the chance to meet Mary Ann, Gilligan, and the Professor, and Mary Ann signed his shirt; a moment he never forgot.

He enjoyed reading, especially Stephen King novels along with a fondness for collecting watches, particularly those with multiple dials, which always seemed to catch his eye. Over time, he also gathered statues of all kinds, but angels were his favorites and held a special place in his collection.

His favorite time of year was his birthday, and he made sure everyone knew it. Months ahead of time, he’d start reminding people so there was no chance the big day would be missed. When it finally arrived, he loved every card and gift—and always paid you back with a hug, a smooch, and a big, thank you.

He loved being an uncle and soaked up every playful moment he shared with his nieces and nephews, always ready for laughs, games, and a little mischief. Kevin met the world with an open heart, a playful spirit, and a knack for making people smile. His joy was genuine, his affection freely given, and his way of connecting with others left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to know him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Pat McShane, Joseph McShane, Michael (Sigrid) McShane, Peg (Mike) Lawrence, Thomas (Betty) McShane, Alice McShane, Gene (Diane) McShane, and Deb Meissner; brothers-in-law, Mike Murtaugh and Bruce Brown; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; siblings, Robert, Lori, Colleen McShane, and Geralyn Murtaugh; and brother-in-law, Ron Meissner.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Father Glenn Frerichs will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca, Minnesota.
