KENNETH JAMES SACK, age 89 of St. Peter formerly of Janesville, died surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Ken was born in Janesville on August 1, 1935, to parents Ernest and Martha (Berndt) Sack. He attended country school and Janesville schools. Ken married Elaine Proehl at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca on June 7, 1957, and they remained married for twenty-five years. Over the years Ken worked on the farm, drove a milk truck, worked at Bird’s E ye Foods in Waseca, worked as a mechanic on the Alaskan Pipeline project, and most recently worked for Waseca County Street Department as a real jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing concertina. He was also a past member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca.
Ken is survived by five children, James (Kathleen) Sack of Owatonna, Julie (Ron) Lowry of Chapin, SC, Bill (Diane) Sack of Show Low, AZ, Carol; Sack of Nashua, NH, and Steve (Laura) Sack of Mesa, AZ; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ron (Bonnie) Sack of St. Peter and Jerome (Debbie Jones) Sack of Mankato; and many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandy Kewatt; his previous wife, Elaine Sack; and a special friend, Irene Greene.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be hosted by his family on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 1-4 p.m. at Indian Island Winery (18018 631st Ave. Janesville, MN 56048). Light lunch and beverages will be provided. A private family interment will take place at Janesville Cemetery. Ken’s family politely asks that they receive no flower or memorial donations, but instead requests donations be made to a foster care program of the donor’s choice.
