KENNETH DALE ROEMHILDT, age 91, lifelong resident of Waseca, died on November 27, 2024, at Whispering Creek in Janesville, surrounded by family.
Born on January 18, 1933, in Waseca, he was the only child born to Ernest Edwin and Clara Elizabeth (Kaupa) Roemhildt. Ken was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his Lutheran faith as a youth, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Iosco Township, Waseca County. He began his education at a rural Waseca County country school in Iosco Township before graduating from Waseca Public Schools with the class of 1950. On September 12, 1959, Ken was united in marriage to Geraldine “Geri” Carlson at First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights.
Ken was a lifelong farmer. From the time he was tall enough to reach the clutch, he was working alongside his dad raising crops and doing chores. Together with his dad, Ken owned and operated a retail fertilizer business for many years along with crop farming and raising a few cattle and hogs from time to time. In 2004, Ken and Geri moved into town, but he continued to stay active with the farm with his two sons.
After moving to town, Ken found a new appreciation for spending time at the Pheasant Café with the “Coffee Crew”. He enjoyed working, fishing, playing cards, making stained glass, traveling to various farm tours around the world and working. Ken was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as an elder for many years.
Ken is survived by his children: Dan (Debbie) of Janesville, Jim (Cathy) of Lakeville, Maria of Burlington, VT, and Bill (Stephanie) of Waseca; eight grandchildren: Brian (Mariah), Gregg (Marie), Lisa (Bryan Berggren), Ali, Taylor, Carter, Chloe, and Claire Roemhildt; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Griffin, Cole, Makenna and Bridget Roemhildt; other relatives and friends.
