Karel Kelling

Karel Kelling, age 66, of rural Pemberton, died peacefully at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel in Janesville. Interment will be in Trenton Cemetery in Freeborn County, Minnesota

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Arnoldt Chapel in Janesville and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Memorial are preferred St. Croix Hospice or Donors Choice.

Karel Margaret was born on September 24, 1952, to Elmer and Margie (Boelke) Soost in Albert Lea. She grew up on a farm in Byron Township, Waseca County. Karel attended New Richland Hartland High School, graduating with the class of 1970. Karel worked at various jobs throughout her career but mostly within the insurance industry. She enjoyed living at her home near Matawan for many years. On April 1, 1994, Karel was united in marriage to Richard Kelling at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Together they made their home on a farm near Pemberton. Throughout her life, Karel was a lover of cats. She was a talented seamstress, an avid and knowledgeable collector of antiques. Karel cherished the time she spent with family and friends. Blessed be her memory.

Karel is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Richard; brothers: Chuck (Barb) Soost of Wells and Elmer Soost of Frost, MN; sisters: Karen (Ron) Paquin of Nashua, IA and Karie Soost of Mankato; nieces and nephews: Jeff Soost, Scott Soost, Michelle Soost, Rande Stanton, Roger Paquin, Renee Schradle, Rachelle Gonzalez and David Tranlam; cousins, other relatives and friends.
