Judy Mae Scott

JUDY MAE (BERGERSON) SCOTT, age 75 of Waseca passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025 at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center.

Judy was born on June 3, 1950, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Melvin and Alice (Engebretson) Bergerson. She grew up in Lynd and graduated from Lynd High School with the Class of 1968. Throughout her life, Judy held a variety of jobs, including positions at EF Johnson and Maplewood in Waseca. In 1991, she returned to school. She earned an associate’s degree from Willmar Community College and went on to complete a bachelor’s degree at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Judy later settled in Janesville, where she worked at Budget Mart until her retirement. She was known for her warmth, creativity, and deep love of animals—especially cats. Judy found joy in cooking, baking, painting, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. Above all, she treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Judy is survived by her children, Gary (Wendy) Rykhus of Madison Lake, Teri Hanks (Chad Blasing) of Janesville, Jerry Scott (Melissa Stadler) of Craig, CO; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty (Barry) Wood of St. Peter, Ronnie Bergerson of Henderson, Kenny (Jeannie) Bergerson of St. Paul, Cindy (Richard) Tilton of Janesville; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends, Cheryl Dotterweich and Cheri Calhoun.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Bergerson.

Memorial service for Judy will be at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place at Brono Cemetery in Montevideo.
