Joanne Evelyn Bell

JOANNE EVELYN BELL, age 83 of Faribault, formerly of Waseca, died on the morning of Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Pleasant View Estates in Faribault.

Joanne was born in Minneapolis on May 10, 1940 to parents Ford and Dorothy (Lindahl) Carlson.  She attended school in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School.  She then continued her education at Gustavus-Adolphus in St. Peter and at the University of Minnesota.  During her time at the University Joanne met and married Thomas Bell.  They were later divorced.  For most of her working career Joanne worked in the Minneapolis office of the Social Security Administration.  She was later employed at Bachman’s Florist.  Upon her move to Waseca she began attending St. John Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed following the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, playing cribbage, and was an avid reader.

Joanne is survived by two children, Kris (Tom) Metzdorff of Waseca and James (Julie) Bell of Eden Prairie; two grandsons, Matthew Metzdorff of Waseca and his fiancé Katie Kam of Honolulu, HI, and Joshua (Emma) Metzdorff of Waseca; a brother, Jeff (Rose) Carlson of Apple Valley; and a sister-in-law, Karen Carlson of Richfield.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her maternal and paternal grandparents; and a brother, Bruce Carlson.
