Marlene A. Jensen

MARLENE ANN JENSEN , age 64 of Waseca, died on Friday, July 12, 2013 at the Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Born in St. Cloud on April 19, 1949, Marlene was the daughter of Carl and Helen (Tammen) Folkerts.  Growing up she attended school in Annandale, and later earned her degree from St. Cloud State University.  On November 28, 1970 Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Dan Jensen.  Together they lived and worked in Benson from 1972 until 1981 when they moved to Waseca.  Marlene worked as a speech clinician for almost 35 years.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She also volunteered at Hansel & Gretel Preschool, for the Lutheran Brotherhood, and played in the Grace Lutheran Bell Choir and served on the Grace Lutheran Church Council.  Recently Marlene was attending North Waseca Lutheran Church.  She will be fondly remembered by many friends in both congregations.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Dan of Waseca; two sons, Michael Jensen and his wife Melissa of Hastings, and Matt Jensen and his wife Amy Littel of Sioux Falls, SD; four grandchildren, Thomas and Anna Jensen and Emma and Curran Littel-Jensen; and one sister, Lori Carter and her husband Dr. Ken Carter of Granite Falls.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one aunt, Louise Tammen.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Monday, July 15, 2013 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Paige Whitney and Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating.
