Janet Arlene Lillian Schmidtke

JANET ARLENE LILLIAN (KRUEGER) SCHMIDTKE, age 94 formerly of Waterville, died on the evening of Sunday, May 4, 2025, at The Willows of Arbor Lakes Memory Care in Maple Grove.

Janet was born in Waterville Township on September 17, 1930, to parents Edwin and Edna (Ferch) Krueger. She was baptized at St. Peter (Bell) Lutheran Church near Waterville and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kilkenny. Janet married Reuben Schmidtke on April 20, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kilkenny. She farmed with her husband north of Waterville for many years and also worked at the First National Bank and the library both in Kilkenny. Some of her activities included Ladies Aid, Merry Homemakers Extension Group, Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, and member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Doug) Webber of Maple Grove; granddaughters Melissa (Tim) Luby and Amanda (Derek) Frazer; great-grandchildren Taylor (Samantha), Austin (Christie), Braden (Kacie), Amaya, and Luraeya; great-great-grandchildren Henry and Hazel; nephews; nieces; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Dennis Schmidtke; and sister, Inez Schwartz.

A private service will be held and will be followed by interment at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
