James Harold Schmidt

JAMES HAROLD “SKOGGIE” SCHMIDT, age 80 of Waseca died on Friday, July 11, 2025 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.

Born on May 8, 1945 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Harold and Audrey (Neidt) Schmidt. He graduated from the Southern School of Agriculture and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves. James began his working years as a truck driver for Dean’s Specialty and eventually went on to own and operate his own truck. He later drove for Associated Lumber Mart and finished his career with Birds Eye. Alongside his professional work, James remained dedicated to helping on the family farm. He enjoyed collecting toys but farming and driving truck were his true passions. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his siblings, John Schmidt, William (Debra) Schmidt, Bonnie Mlenek, Todd (Tae) Schmidt, and Randy (Twyla) Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael; brother-in-law, Ray Mlenek; and sister-in-law, Mary Schmidt.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
