Etta Elizabeth Baker

ETTA ELIZABETH BAKER, age 87 of Owatonna, died on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Koda Living Community in Owatonna.

Born on February 28, 1933 in Turtle Lake, North Dakota, Etta was the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Johnson) Hailey. She graduated from high school in Washburn, ND. After moving to Fairmont, she met Donald Baker and they were married on March 17, 1952 in Elbow Lake. While always remaining dedicated to raising her family, Etta maintained various jobs in Fairmont and Waseca. She retired from Brown Printing after 26 years of service. Etta was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waseca and volunteered there regularly. She was also an active member of the Waseca VFW Auxiliary and the Waseca Senior Center, and she enjoyed volunteering in various capacities for the Mayo Clinic. She enjoyed reading, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, watching Minnesota sports, babysitting, and spending time with friends and family.

Etta is survived by three sons, Richard (Lyn) Baker of Owatonna, Warren Baker of Medford, and Bruce (Rhonda) Baker of Prior Lake; five daughters, Ellen Holt of Rochester, Edith (Gaylen) Goodrich of Ankeny, IA, Teresa Young of San Diego, CA, Sara (Doug) Bahler of Monroe, WI, and Cindy (Sonny) Johnson of Kasson; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers; and four sisters.

A private family graveside service will be held at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. Flowers and memorial donations may be directed to “The Family of Etta Baker” and sent to 1850 Mineral Springs Parkway, Owatonna, MN 55060.
