ERIC MICHAEL “LAMAR” WILMES, age 41, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 21, 2020 at his home in St. Clair.
Born in Mankato on December 20, 1979, Eric was the son of Steven and Cheryle Wilmes. He attended school in St. Clair, graduating with the class of 1998. On August 5, 2006 Eric was married to Kristen Loeffler in St. Clair. Although they later divorced they remained close friends and worked together to raise their two children. Eric worked as a Production Supervisor at Berry Global for over twenty years alongside his father, brother, and nephew. Over those years many of his “work friends” became more like “work family”. Eric was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and enjoyed playing softball, fishing, shooting darts, sports, dancing (even though he was a terrible dancer), and “walking the hill” at his grandparents’ home with his dog, Roxy. He will be long remembered for “Sunday Funday”, playing catch with his son, playing bags, recording TikToks with the kids, and his fantastic sense of humor.
Eric is survived by his parents, Steven and Cheryle Wilmes of St. Clair; his children, Addison and Ashton Wilmes of St. Clair; his girlfriend, Amy Campbell of St. Clair and her children, Lillie, Renner, and Ryder; two siblings, Daniel Wilmes of St. Clair, and Christi Wilmes and her significant other, Dave Hughes of St. Clair; six nieces and nephews, Jordan, Devin, K.J., Avery, Braxton, and Harper; five Aunts; five Uncles; and his grandparents, Stanley and Delores Wilmes of Mankato and Sanford and Monette Jackson of Antlers, OK. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Roxy; and his entire Berry Global family. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Rudolph and Clara Linde, and Arthur and Verna Wilmes.
A celebration of Eric’s life will be held by his family at a later date.
