EMERY WILLIAM WEBER, age 98, of Waseca, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Benedictine Living in Owatonna.
Born on May 24, 1926, in Waseca, he was the son of Rudolf and Lydia (Kruetz) Weber. Emery attended rural Waseca Country School until the eighth grade. On December 11, 1944, Emery joined the United States Army and served his country during WWII until his honorable discharge on December 2, 1946. He married Grace Wood at the First Congregational Church of Waseca on September 7, 1957. Together, they operated a dairy farm in rural Waseca, raising two sons, Joel and Harold. In 1983, they transitioned away from dairy farming but continued to live in rural Waseca, where Emery assisted a cousin with his farm. He also worked in building maintenance at Corchrans in Waseca.
Throughout his life, Emery had a deep appreciation for auctions. He loved attending them and often traveled across a five-state area to participate in these events. This lifelong interest eventually led him to work with various auctioneers until a few years before his passing. The friendships he formed at these auctions and stories he collected over the years became a cherished part of his life. Emery enjoyed caring for his properties and socializing with friends at the VFW. He was a cherished member of the First Congregational Church in Waseca and Sweet-Sommers VFW Post 1642.
He is survived by his two sons, Joel (Betty) Weber and Harold (Joan) Weber, both of Waseca; seven grandchildren: Jon (Kristine) Weber, Melissa Gilmore, Christopher (Kristin) Weber, Megan (James) Flintrop, Alicia (Dustin) Stewart, Nicholas Weber, and Andrew Weber; and great-grandchildren: Bradley, Camdyn, Adelynn, Elijah, Ezekiel, Henry, Emery, Wallace, Grace, Dakota, Emma, Adrian, Eileen, Leo and Joseph; sister-in-law, Arlene Weber; nieces, nephews other relatives and friend.
Emery was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two brothers, Marvin and Melvin; sister-in-law, Janet Weber; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the First Congregational Church in Waseca, with Rev. Ken Andrs officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca with military honors provided by the Waseca VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.
