Elizabeth "Betsy" McIntire

Jun 25, 1963 — Jul 13, 2026

Owatonna, Minnesota

Elizabeth “Betsy” McIntire, age 63, of Owatonna, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 13, 2026, at Cedar Lodge Assisted Living in Owatonna.

Betsy was born on June 25, 1963, in Rochester, MN, the youngest daughter of Homer “Mac” and Elizabeth “Betty” McIntire of Waseca. She attended school in Waseca, including elementary school at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary, middle school at Central, before graduating from Waseca High School in 1982. She graduated from Mankato State University in 1993.

Betsy was known for her genuine kindness, friendly demeanor, and bright smile. She worked for Carlson Craft Printing in Mankato for many years, only leaving to move to Colorado. In Colorado, she met & married Keith Beggs, and although they divorced in 1999, they were blessed with a son, Joshua.

While she enjoyed her time in Colorado, she and Joshua moved back home to Waseca, to the delight of Betty, her mother, later moving to Owatonna.

Betsy was constantly concerned about the well-being of others, from her brothers and sister, extending to her nephews and nieces and friends. She found great joy in the simple things: gathering with friends and family, playing Bingo and Gin (regularly beating John & Nancy), and cheering on her beloved Vikings. She absolutely loved cats, especially her cat Bandit.

Due to health issues, she moved into Cedar Lodge Assisted Living in 2022, making friends with everyone. She was also supported by Moments Hospice of Mankato, so combined with the Cedar Lodge personnel, Betsy was always surrounded by caring individuals. We’d like to thank the entire staff for their continuous care and kindness toward Betsy. She felt you were all family.

Betsy is survived by her brothers Marty (Becky) and John (Ann), and sister Nancy (Dave), her son Josh LaMotte, nieces and nephews Brad (Jenny), Brian (Natalie), Kimberley, Craig, Katie (Brian), James, Eileen, and Mary, great nephews & nieces Logan, Hayden, Ethan, Amelia, and Teddy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer & Betty McIntire, her brother, Robert McIntire, grandparents Homer Sr. & Eileen McIntire and Robert and Irene Glennon. May their memory be a blessing.

A celebration of Betsy’s life and funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church on October 10th. Burial will be at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca followed by a luncheon in the Sacred Heart Fellowship Hall.

The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Homer and Elizabeth McIntire Endowment Fund (Waseca Area Foundation) or to your favorite charity in her memory.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at Cedar Lodge Assisted Living of Owatonna and Moments Hospice of Mankato/Rochester for all their amazing care and support. She truly felt at home. Special thanks to Matt O’Brian and the late Bea O’Brian, who have been her long-time trust advisors. Thank you all!
