I, Edith “Edie” Marie Krause at the age of 90 of rural Waseca, went home to be with Jesus on the afternoon of Thursday, March 12, 2026 surrounded by the love of my family.
I was born in Minneapolis on September 13, 1935 to my parents Iver and Florence (Erickson) Peterson. I was born-again when I gave my heart to Jesus at 10 years old one Sunday morning in Sunday School. I thank God for the Christian home I was born into and raised by the Word of God. I’ve failed many times during my lifetime, but Jesus always forgave me as I came to Him and repented of my sins. I’m very thankful that God gave His only Son to die on the cross so that I could have my sins forgiven and now I’m in heaven with Him. I’m also thankful for His presence in my life, His companionship, His love, His promise never to leave me nor forsake me. As the song goes, “without Him I could do nothing, without Him I’d surely fail, without Him I would be drifting, like a ship without a sail.” So, any good that I’ve done in my lifetime is all because of Him. He gets the Glory!
I attended school in the Twin Cities and graduated from Minnehaha Academy. After schooling, a friend and I moved to Colorado for a short time working as a telephone operator for “Ma Bell” which I continued to do upon returning to Minnesota.
God blessed me with a good husband and father to our four sons. On March 18, 1960, I was united in marriage to James “Jim” Krause in the Twin Cities. Though I have fond memories of visiting my grandparents farm in Wisconsin as a child, I soon became a full-time farm wife myself, supporting my husband as we raised our family and followed God’s path for our life together. It has been an honor to be a member of several faith communities and a pleasure to help others know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I’ve had great joy in serving others, observing ways I could help including supplying favorite snacks for children and grandchildren. I’ve also enjoyed compiling and studying our family’s history and genealogy. I love the family God has so wonderfully blessed me with!
I am survived by my four sons, Steve (Jill), Scott (Bev), Tim (Barb), and Kevin; grandchildren, Jason, Joesph, Nakia, Rachel (Andrew), Dakota (Aric), Sierra (Noah), Tyler (Callie), Nathan (Nicole), MesaJo (Christopher), Daniel (Sarah), Caleb; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Zaden, Hannah, Connor, Cayden, Ryland, Riddley, Olive, Elian, Cafourek, Iyoney, Trieghten, Adrein, Reagan, Elliott, Izon, Dovey, Kaia; great-great-grandson, Thorson. I am also remembered by sisters-in-law, Lorraine Peterson and Gladys Toews; and many nieces and nephews. I am preceded in death by both of my parents; my husband; two grandsons, Noah and Josiah; two brothers, Evert and Harold Peterson; my parents-in-law, Ervin and Esther Krause; siblings-in-law, Victor Krause, Jacob Toews, Rod Geary, Rachel Geary, Lilly Krause, and Margaret Peterson.
If anyone reading this does not know Jesus as your personal Savior, I invite you to repent of your sins and ask Him into your life. He will save you and I will see you in heaven.
