DOUGLAS HAROLD PRESCHER, age 77, of Waseca, died on May 17, 2025, at his home with his family by his side.
Born on August 12, 1947, in Mankato, he was the son of Everett and Rita (Brigger) Prescher. Doug grew up on a farm near Mapleton and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1965. On December 6, 1967, Doug was drafted into the United States Army where he honorable served his country during the Vietnam War as an Army Drill Sargent. Doug was very proud of his military service! Following his honorably discharge, Doug continued his education at Mankato State University where he studied business, graduating in 1973. In 1975, Doug was united in marriage to Julie Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Mapleton, together they had two children and were later divorced.
Throughout his life, Doug worked as the Assistant Veterans Service Officer, Director of Violations Bureau and Assistant Court Administrator all for Blue Earth County, ending his career as Court Administrator for Waseca County, retiring in 2007. Doug enjoyed curling, hunting, fishing, tending to his vegetable garden and following Minnesota Sports. In the early 2000’s Doug began a new chapter in his life with his loving companion, Bonnie White. Together they enjoyed being involved with the Waseca American Legion, wintering in Texas and going up north fishing. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, Ducks Unlimited, serving as treasurer for many years, and the Waseca American Legion where he was active with the formation of the Waseca County Veterans Memorial.
Doug is survived by his two children, Natalie Norris of Mound, and Brett (Rebecca) Prescher of Waseca; five grandchildren, Tristan Godwin, John Norris, Jack Norris, Adelaide Prescher and Rorric Prescher; siblings, Richard (Elizabeth) Prescher of Morristown, Greg Prescher of Redwood Falls, Gale (Tom) Morley of Redwood Falls; and Bonnie’s children, Becky (Derek) Brewer of Waseca, Steven (Della) White of Plainfield, IL, and Kelly (Vaughn) Ihrke of Isanti; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, loving companion, Bonnie White; sister-in-law, Barb Prescher.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jillene Gallatin officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery in Mapleton.
