DELPHINE ARDELLA ROEKER, age 96, of Alma City, passed away at her home on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Born on April 19, 1929, at her grandparents' farm in rural Pemberton, she was the daughter of Raymond Sargent and Florence Mrytle (Southwick) More. Delphine grew up in the area and graduated with the class of 1947. On July 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to George Walter Roeker, and together they made their home in Alma City. They shared 51 years of marriage before George’s passing in 2000.
Throughout her life, Delphine worked in various roles, including at the grocery store in Alma City and Waldorf, as an egg handler in Waldorf, and as a waitress. In her younger years, she enjoyed waterskiing and had a passion for knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Delphine was also deeply involved in her faith and was a longtime member of the Medo Baptist Church, where she served as an organist for many years. She was known as a loving and fun mother, deeply committed to her family.
Delphine is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Elaine Roeker of Alma City; siblings: Lorraine Vaughan of Colorado, Isabelle (Dennis) Hornemann of Lake Washington, Thane Shaw of Pemberton, and Florence (Royce) Brunz of Pemberton; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and her brothers: Glen More, Richard More, and Harold Shaw.
A visitation will begin at 1:00 PM and conclude with a prayer service at 2:30 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025, all at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Interment will follow at the Alma City Cemetery.
