David Michael Huff of Waseca passed away at his home on January 11, 2026.
Born on April 21, 1980, in Owatonna, MN he was the son of David and Cynthia (Stern) Huff. David grew up in Austin and attended local schools there. He held a variety of jobs early in his career before joining the pipeline workforce, which required him to travel between job sites across the United States.
David lived life on the fly; a worry about it later kind of man. Headstrong and stubborn, he stood his ground and could hold his own in any situation. He had a deep love for travel, often choosing his destination only after the journey had begun. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the open road, riding his motorcycle with nothing ahead of him but miles of freedom. He had an artistic soul, finding joy in drawing and a deep appreciation for all kinds of music—so much so that he even produced songs of his own. A true foodie, he was a talented cook who loved experimenting with new recipes and exploring restaurants to discover new flavors. Known for his sharp humor, he delighted in laughter and had a gift for making others laugh through his jokes, stories, and playful smack talk.
Though he was a man of few words, his love for his family spoke volumes. When it came to birthdays and special occasions, he went all out; nothing was ever simple, and he always found a way to make celebrations bigger and more memorable.
David is survived by his children, Christopher Berg, Michael (Samantha) Hanson, Darae Huff, Dezirae Huff, and Alleyce (Derek Bakken) Huff; grandchildren, Violet, Athena, Dacari, Wesley, Adalynn, Griffin, Davoni, and Olivia; mother, Cynthia Huff; grandmother, Myrth Ugland; sister, Leigha (Steve) Lesniewicz; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, David and grandfather, Martin Ugland.
A Celebration of David’s life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Third Street Chapel of the Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral Home in Waseca, MN. Burial will be at the Buffalo Township Cemetery in Titonka, Iowa at a later date.
