David Harold Svela
DAVID HAROLD SVELA, age 72 of Waterville, died on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Waseca.
Born on July 26, 1943 in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of Harold and Sarah Maxine (Burgess) Svela. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1961. David served in the US Army from 1965 until his honorable discharge in 1968. Upon returning to Waterville from the service, David was employed at Brown Printing Co. in Waseca until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed wood working, traveling, and having coffee and visiting with friends. He was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Waterville and the Waterville VFW.
David is survived by one brother, Dean (Valerie) Svela of Cokato and Carol (Jacob) Schumacher of Mankato; and five nieces and nephews, Nathaniel (Alli) Svela, Jason (Jamie) Svela, Erin (Doug) Lawler, Mathew (Angie) Schumacher, and Kyle Schumacher. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Waterville. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.
