Cortney Kay Kitzman

August 20, 1985 — April 2, 2026

New Richland

Cortney Kay Kitzman, of New Richland, MN passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 20, 1985, in Austin, Texas she is the daughter of John and DeeAnn(Hansen) Kitzman. As a young child, Cortney moved with her family from Texas to Waseca, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Waseca schools, and after graduation, she attended college for a short time. While working at Brown Printing, she met Jeremy Weller, who, despite being a bit shy, was eventually nudged into calling her for a date. Not long after, they made the move to New Richland, where they created a life together and raised their three sons.

She loved her family fiercely and made them the center of her world, always showing up to cheer them on and be by their side. Alongside raising her three boys, she also shared endless love and care with the family’s dogs. She was an active Cub Scout leader and treasured the many days spent fishing with her boys, creating memories that meant everything to her. Alongside her best friend, Casey, she looked forward to planning an annual Halloween party for their kids and friends; a tradition full of fun, laughter, and lasting memories.

Throughout her career, she held a variety of roles, but she truly found her calling as a paraprofessional in Waseca and, most recently, at NRHEG. In that role, her heart was always with the students, dedicating herself to making sure each child felt cared for, supported, and truly seen. She wasn’t just an educator; she was a steadfast advocate, pouring herself into every moment to lift up the kids around her.

Her heart was pure, and her energy was all spunk, sass, and playful goofiness; she left a mark on everyone she met and will be greatly missed.

Cortney will be lovingly remembered by her partner in life, Jeremy Weller; sons, Jonathan Weller, Cameron Kitzman, and Noah Weller; father, John Kitzman; grandparents, Larry and Linda Hansen; Aunt Chrissy, Jeremy’s parents, Roberta Chandler and Jack (Sue) Weller; Jeremy’s siblings, Dave Weller, Brian (Lori) Weller, Mark (Missy) Weller, Mike (Amy Moody) Weller, and Mindy Hawks; her best friend, Casey (Ryan Schroht) Boyd and her children, Derek, Avyana, and Dylan; and her loving pups, Lucy and Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her mother, DeeAnn; Grandparents Kitzman; aunt, Carrie Hansen; and Jeremy’s brother, John Weller.

A visitation to celebrate Cortney’s life will be held at the State Street Chapel of the Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral Home in Waseca, MN on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. A burial will take place at a later date.
