Christopher Jon Sather, age 52, of Waseca, Minnesota passed away at his home on October 20, 2025.
The son of Ronald and Kathy (Dumdei) Sather, Christopher was born at Hennepin County Hospital on November 29, 1972. Chris grew up in Janesville, Minnesota where he attended and graduated from Janesville schools. Following his graduation, he began working at Viracon in Owatonna, where he remained until 2012, when complications from diabetes affected his health. While working at Viracon, he met the love of his life, Dee Ann David, in 1999 — it was love at first sight, and he soon asked her out on a date and their story began. Family meant everything to Chris. He helped raise Dee Ann’s two children and later wholeheartedly embraced his role as Boppa to Negan; Negan was his little man and their bond was unbreakable!
Chris loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing, hunting, and sharing the many stories that came with those adventures — like the time he hit three flying geese with a single shot! He also loved watching sports and was an especially devoted fan to the Minnesota Wild hockey team where they would go to games at the X.
He will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Ron and Kathy; life partner, Dee Ann; children, Kaitlyn Van Den Hemel and Tyler (Ellie) Vandler; grandson, Negan Kubat; sister, Sarah (William) Meyer; brother, Zachary (Karla) Sather; Dee Ann's family; father, James David; sisters, Dawn (Denis) David-Copp and Debbie David, along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Albert and Phylis Dumdei and Oscar and Iris Sather; and Dee Ann's mother, Carolyn David.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on November 15, 2025 at the United Methodist Church in Janesville, Minnesota; Pastor Kathy King will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date; food and fellowship to follow the service at the church.
