Charlotte (Olson) Lau Anderegg
Charlotte Lau Anderegg, a beloved woman known for her kindness, humor, and unwavering love for family and friends, returned to the Lord on the evening of October 5, 2025. Born in Minneapolis on August 2, 1932, Charlotte lived a life filled with compassion, generosity, and devotion to others. “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” — Acts 20:35
The daughter of Robert and Gladys Olson, Charlotte grew up in a lively household alongside her five brothers, who taught her strength and independence. She pursued her passion for 4-H throughout her youth and graduated from Waseca High School in 1950. On September 25, 1953, she married her beloved Wilfred (“Bud”) Lau, and together they built a warm and loving home filled with laughter and the joy of raising eight children: Gerald (Carrie) Lau, Jeffrey (Cindy) Lau, Jimmy (Gloria) Lau, Dawn Santucci, Debra Hanson, Marjory (Mike) Gilsrud, Craig Schueneman, and James (Kindra) Kostka.
Charlotte was an active member of the American Legion Posts 281 and 289 and the Waseca VFW, where she enjoyed socializing and sipping her beer with olives. A founding member of Faith Lutheran Church, she found deep comfort and community in her faith. Charlotte worked at EF Johnson for 30+ years after enjoying time spent raising her family.
On December 17, 1989, Charlotte married Willard Anderegg, and together they shared a love of travel and adventure. She found joy in the outdoors, especially in tending her garden and proudly caring for her beautiful red roses. She delighted in her “fishbowl” — a round tank the size of a coffee table — and loved introducing guests to all her aquatic creatures. Charlotte’s home was always a place of warmth and welcome; no one ever left hungry. Saturday mornings often carried the aroma of fresh-baked cinnamon rolls and donuts, while Friday nights were reserved for family movie gatherings with a popcorn bowl big enough for the whole neighborhood.
Charlotte is lovingly remembered by her children Gerald (Carrie) Lau, Jimmy (Gloria) Lau, Dawn Santucci, Marjory (Mike) Gilsrud, and James (Kindra) Kostka; daughters-in-law Cindy Lau and Jean (Don) Eickhoff; brothers Mike Olson and Bruce Olson; and sisters-in-law Helen Olson, Doris Waknitz, Sharon Boyd, Betty (Leo) Prechel, and Arlene Braun.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Wilfred (“Bud”) Lau and Willard Anderegg; her parents Robert and Gladys Olson (Strodtman); father- and mother-in-law Wilbert and Erma Lau; children Jeffrey Lau, Craig Schueneman, Debra Hanson, and infants John, Jacob, and Mary Lau; brothers Robert Olson Jr., Donald Olson, and David Olson; grandson Justin Hanson; daughter-in-law Mary Lau; brothers-in-law Richard Lau, Kenneth Lau, Marvin Lau, Willard Lau, Marlin Boyd, Ben Waknitz, and Lawrance Braun; and sisters-in-law Judi Olson, Jeannette Lau, Mary Parish-Olson, Marilyn Lau, Dorthy Olson, Ester Olson, and Deloris Lau; as well as granddaughter-in-law Kristi Eickhoff.
Charlotte’s legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to shine through her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
A special thank-you to Colony Court for their wonderful care of Charlotte.
