Charles Nordgaard August 14, 1927 - January 22, 2009
Charles "Chuck" Nordgaard, age 81 of Faribault, MN died Thursday, January 22, 2009 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Luke''s Church in Faribault, with Rev. Aaron Brockmeier, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault, with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Charles Harry Nordgaard, the son of Harry and Eva (Elstad) was born on August 14, 1927 in Northfield, MN. He was raised in Northfield, graduated from Northfield High School and attended St. Olaf College. Chuck served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII. He married Berdell (Babe) Glende on May 5, 1962 in Northfield. Chuck worked for the Minnesota Highway Department, Charlie''s Supper Club (formerly Florella''s) in Northfield, Northfield Municipal Liquor Store as assistant manager, Milt Pofahl''s Red Dog Saloon and Chandelier Room, and retired from the Faribault American Legion Post 43, where he worked for approximately 35 years. Chuck was an avid sports person, exelling in basketball and golf. He loved working in his yard, planting flowers and feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits. He was a member of the American Legion Post 43, and honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562. He is survived by his wife, Babe; brother, Richard (Dick) Nordgaard of Princeton, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Darlene Glende of Faribault, Harold and Diane Glende of Nerstrand, Karen Glende of Faribault, and Virginia and Curtis Forster of White Bear, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eileen Kuehn Lee; and brother-in-law, Robert (Bob) Glende Sr.

Chuck was a 1945 classmate at Northfield High School. I will remember him as being friendly always, and a wonderful golfer. With love and sympathy, "Babe.",
