BEVERLY EILEEN (GEHRING) GUSE, age 89 of rural Waseca, passed away Friday, May 8th, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Beverly was born to Chester and Effie (Kujath) Gehring on April 15, 1937 in Wilton Township in Waseca County. She was baptized on May 9th 1937 and confirmed her faith on May 28th, 1950 both at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wilton. Beverly attended country school in Wilton township and later Waseca Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1954. Following her education, she worked in banking until becoming a mother. In 1953, Bev met the love of her life, Clarence Guse. They were married March 18, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township. After living briefly in Waseca and Morristown, they settled on the family farm in 1959, where they built a life together for 65 years until Clarence’s passing in 2021.
Bev loved to travel. She and Clarence were fortunate enough to travel much of the United States and abroad. One of their adventures that will not easily be forgotten was the family trip to the North Shore. Bev and Clarence enjoyed watching their children and grandchildren spend time together which included swimming in some very chilly temperatures.
Bev was known for her potato salad and rhubarb meringue dessert. She enjoyed needlework, sewing, playing cards, dominoes, and watching her children and grandchildren’s many athletic and art events. She especially enjoyed winning on a slot machine at various casinos and had a final trip with her daughters the week before she passed. Family, friends, farming, and faith were the cornerstone of her life and will continue for generations to come. Her grandchildren reminisce about their grandparent sleepovers and the fun they had. Bev’s faith showed strongly as she quietly sang hymns during her final resting moments.
Bev is survived her children: John (LuAnn) Guse of Albert Lea, Richard (Kristin) Guse of Waseca, Jean Kirick of Sartell, Judy (Craig) McCourtney of Eagle Lake, Kay (Gary) Gottschalk of Janesville, Mary (Steve) Kramer of Dodge Center, Larry Guse of Rochester, Lori (John) Kulander of Farmington; siblings, Norman (Donna) Gehring, Marilyn Marsh, and Darrold (Bev) Gehring.
