Betty J. Hackett, age 75, of Faribault, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. David Hurtt, officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Betty Jane Gunderson, the daughter of Ernest and Martha (Brown) Gunderson, was born on February 13, 1934 in Northfield, MN. She graduated from Northfield High School with the class of 1953. Betty married Francis Hackett on April 24, 1954 in Northfield. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2004. Betty was a homemaker for much of her life and also worked as a nursing assistant at District One Hospital and at Faribault High School in food service. She treasured her time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1562 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 43 Auxiliary, and Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters, Pamela (Rodney) Schramm of LeCenter, MN, Debbie (Stan) LeRoy of Northfield, and Michele Hackett of Faribault; three granddaughters, Melissa (Karl) Johnson, Cassie LeRoy, and Ashley LeRoy; three great grandchildren, Austin Kay Johnson-Hackett, Kory Andrew Johnson-Hackett, and Shayla Ann Wills; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and sister, Donna Jean Swanson.
