Arlene Ruth Foels

Mar 28, 1928 — Jun 20, 2026

Waseca, Minnesota

Arlene Ruth (Krause) Foels, age 98, of Waseca went to her eternal home in heaven on June 20, 2026.

Arlene was born on a nice spring day on March 28, 1928, in Waseca at the home of her aunt and uncle Esther and Jerry Johnston. She was the second child of the 4 children born to William R. and Florence (Wetzstein) Krause. She accepted Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior at the young age of 12 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church (EUB) during an evangelistic meeting.

Her education began at District 16 in St Mary's township, then attended Waseca High School, graduating in 1946. She went to Wells Teacher Training program in 1947. Arlene taught country school in Manchester in Freeborn County, and District 10 (Palmer School) in Waseca County for 5 years. She loved teaching. She also worked as a clerical aid in the principal's' office of Waseca High School for 29 years.

Arlene married her beloved husband, Kenneth B. Foels, at the EUB church in Waseca on October 7, 1950. They were blessed with three loving and caring daughters, Patricia, Sandra and Jane.

They bought a small farm in Woodville Township where she enjoyed remodeling the farmhouse. She had a gift of hospitality enjoyed by many. She loved to collect cookbooks, try new recipes, garden and can, cook and bake, and sew her daughter's clothes. Arlene enjoyed camping and traveling and visiting historical sites on family vacations. Attending activities of her children and grandchildren were very important. They farmed for 50 years, followed by a move to a home in Waseca, then to Colony Court for the remainder of her life.

Arlene loved the scriptures and studied her Bible diligently. She served Jesus in her church as a teacher, youth leader and in women's ministry, church choir, and ladies' trio. She faithfully prayed for her treasured family, and the needs of others. She was a model of faith to her family and all that knew her. Arlene lived with joy and grace. Her sweet spirit was evident to anyone who came in contact with her.

Survived by daughters, Patricia Miller, Sandra (Glen) Prechel and Jane (Tom) Rice, 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death were her husband, Kenneth, her parents William and Florence Krause, her 2-year-old little sister Shirley, sister Fern Watland (Elwyn), brother Robert Krause (Darlene), son-in-law, Paul Miller and all of her in-laws.

“Arlene's life was full, happy and blessed!!!”
