Arlene Ruth Braun

Arlene Ruth (Lau) Braun, age 94 of Pemberton, MN died on July 4, 2026, at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center in Waseca, MN.

Arlene was born on July 26, 1931 at home in Janesville, Waseca County, MN to Wilbert and Erma (Lange) Lau. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1949.

On November 30, 1949, Arlene married Lawrence C Braun at Freedom Church in Janesville, MN. They moved to their farm near Pemberton where they raised their two children, Beveryly Boyd and Gary Braun.

Arlene had a passion for sewing and mowing. No matter how hot out it was she always had on a sweatshirt and could mow for hours. Lawrence and Arlene mowed for many cemeteries over the years. Potholders were her specialty, sewing hundreds and giving them all away.

She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township where she was active with the ladies aid and quilting groups.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly; son, Gary; grandson, Brandon Boyd; great-granddaughter, Mariah (Ethan Morris) Boyd; sisters, Doris Waknitz, Betty (Leo) Prechel, and Sharon Boyd; many nieces and nephews; along with special helpers Aaron and Tricia Johnson and Bob and Jane Lau.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence; parents; son-in-law, Robert Boyd; brothers, Marvin, Kenneth, Wilfred, Willard, and Richard; brothers-in-law, Ben Waknitz and Marlin Boyd; sisters-in-law, Delores Lau, Marilyn Lau, Charlotte Lau, and Jeannette Lau.

Special thanks to the nursing staff and caregivers at Lakeshore Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave Arlene.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Janesville Chapel of the Dennis Steffel Omtvedt Funeral and Cremations Service; Pastor Jason Wolter will officiate. Arlene’s family will greet guests at a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery – Freedom.
