ALLEN LEROY HRDLICKA, age 83 of Mankato died on Monday, February 17, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on July 31, 1936 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of Albert and Florence (Kruckman) Hrdlicka. Allen graduated from Waterville High School in 1954 and went on to serve in the National Guard. He married Nancy Kanne on August 25, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Elysian and they were later divorced. Allen was employed with Coca-Cola for a short time before beginning his career with the Dairy Fresh Milk Co. He was proud to be a milk man, beginning with door to door delivery and eventually driving semi before retiring as a route supervisor after 36 years with the company. In his retirement he worked for Frito Lay.

Allen was a proud Teamster Union member. He loved Minnesota sports, especially the Twins and the country music of George Jones and Johnny Cash. Allen was a standout ball player having played on numerous town ball teams. He loved to reminisce about his days as a power hitting 3rd baseman. He also enjoyed reading, gambling, the “occasional” Miller High Life, and MN State Fair. Allen was a lifelong Democrat and enjoyed debating politics.

He is survived by his children, Terry (DaMaris Amundson) Hrdlicka of Eagle Lake, Vicki (Dan Frey) Hrdlicka of St. Peter, and Randy (Dina) Hrdlicka of Ham Lake; and two grandsons, Andy and Ben Hrdlicka of Mankato. He is also survived by one brother, Chester (Helen) Hrdlicka of Elysian; sister-in-law, Gerry Hrdlicka of Waseca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and spouses, Russ (Sis) Hrdlicka, John F. Hrdlicka, George (Delores) Hrdlicka, Ruby (Bud) Roessler, Gene Hrdlicka, and Don (Deanne) Hrdlicka; ex-wife, Nancy; and beloved family Shih Tzu, Doogan.
