Alice Schumm

September 24, 1936 — May 18, 2025

Waseca

ALICE SCHUMM, age 88 of Waseca went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca while surrounded by her family.

Born on September 24, 1936 in Sheldon, Iowa, she was the daughter of Henry and Alice (Heimanson) Wildeman. She graduated from school in Albert Lea and was united in marriage to H. Dale Schumm in Albert Lea.

Alice spent the early part of her life raising her children, and later went to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the local nursing home. Caring for others came naturally to her and even after she became a resident in a nursing home herself, Alice continued to look out for those around her, always offering help in any way she could. She enjoyed baking, quilting, and spending time with her family. One of the greatest joys in her life was being a grandmother. She doted on her grandchildren and they were truly the light of her life. Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

She is survived by her three children, Joe (Sue) Schumm of Bemidji, August (Debra) Schumm of Le Sueur, and Shelley Callahan of Waseca; 6 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Arlene Vanderhorst of Bakersfield; Wilma Pirkl of Geneva; Art (Donna) Wildeman of Faribault; and William Wildeman of Albert Lea.
