Verna Morrissey July 18, 1916 - March 13, 2011
Verna (Lippert) Morrissey, age 94, a lifelong resident of Rice County, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault with Bernadette Tatge, pastoral minister at Divine Mercy Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery, Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday for one hour prior to services. Verna Louise, the daughter of Max and Mary (Schneider) Lippert, was born on July 18, 1916 in Warsaw Township, Rice County, MN. She graduated from Faribault High School with the class of 1935 and enjoyed monthly class reunion luncheons for many, many years. She was united in marriage to Clarence G. Morrissey on October 30, 1941. They farmed together in Rice County until Clarence''s death in 1968. Following Clarence''s death, Verna worked for many years as a teacher''s aide, at the State School Campus in Faribault. Verna remained on the farm for many years and was known far and wide for her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. She was also a long time member of the Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary where she enjoyed playing cards and other activities. She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Morrissey of Faribault and Janet (Warren) Witte of Bradenton, FL; sisters-in-law, Helen (Stanley) Nusbaum of Faribault and Ruth (Thomas) Comstock of Zumbrota, MN and by cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Carl Lippert and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
