Travis Ryan Van Houdt

October 2, 2002 — December 22, 2020

TRAVIS RYAN VAN HOUDT, age 18 of Waterville, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Hennepin County Medical Center following an automobile accident.

Born in Faribault on October 2, 2002, Travis was the son of Henry and Julie (Lyons) Van Houdt. He was a senior at WEM High School in Waterville and was scheduled to graduate with the class of 2021 (although his brothers and friends thought he might actually be a “super senior” and graduate in 2022). He was known far and wide for rocking a perfectly styled mullet… nobody else will ever pull off that haircut the way he did. Travis was very active at school and enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, running track, bowling, and playing tuba in the school band. He also enjoyed ice skating and hanging out with his friends. He worked summers for Dappen Landscaping in Montgomery and he was very talented in that role. Travis was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville where he remained active as a member of the youth group. He will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

Travis is survived by his parents, Henry and Julie Van Houdt of Waterville; three brothers, Cory, Jason, and Matthew Van Houdt of Waterville; his maternal grandmother, Lorraine Lyons of Waterville; and a host of aunts; uncles; cousins, other relatives; and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Lyons; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Evylin Van Houdt; and two uncles, William A. Van Houdt and John E. Van Houdt.

A private family visitation for those related to Travis will be held from 2-3:30PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville. Private family visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

A public visitation for friends and community will be held from 4-7PM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, guests should anticipate greeting only Travis’ parents, brothers, and grandmother. Please also be aware that guests will enter and exit the church through separate doorways, and that masks and appropriate social distancing will be required.

A private family funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating. A recorded webcast of Travis’ funeral service will be made available on the dennisfunerahomes.com webpage on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
