SYLVESTER MORSCHING, age 89 of Elysian died on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
Born on February 4, 1930 at his parents home in Elysian Township, Le Sueur County, he was the son of Henry and Emma (Berndt) Morsching.  He attended Cannonville School and St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran School.  Sylvester served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951 until 1953.  He married Carole Schwichtenberg on August 9, 1957 at St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church.  Sylvester hauled milk for the Waterville and Elysian Co-Op Creameries.  He also drove truck for Polar Panel in Montgomery until 1965.  He then started a dairy farm and farmed until 1984 when he went to work at Elysian Auto Service with his son, Carl.  In retirement, he worked pumping gas at Billys and Caseys and also worked at Morsching Olson Insurance and Tax Service.  Sylvester was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elysian where he served as an elder.  He was also a member of American Legion Post 311 in Elysian and was honored as a Korean War Veteran at Rice Creek Hunting in Little Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of Elysian; two children, Arlene (Loren "Curly") Schwartz of Elysian, and Carl (Susan) Morsching of Janesville; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin) Wenker, Lindsey Schwartz, Jeremy (Amanda) Morsching, and Emily (Charlie) Skluzacek; great grandchildren, Paxton and Sutton Wenker and one on the way, and Macy and Mia Skluzacek.  He is also survived by special hunting and fishing partner, Keith Schwichtenberg.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin (Bertha) Morsching and Nelmer (Lorraine) Morsching; and great granddaughter, Faith Wenker. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elysian.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church.  Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.
