Stephen Walter Bartelt August 17, 1950 - June 11, 2013

Stephen W. Bartelt, age 62, of Faribault and formerly of Minneapolis, died June 11, 2013 at his home following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church (4350 Russell Ave. N.) in North Minneapolis. Interment with military honors will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements are with the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault.

Stephen Walter Bartelt, the son of Frank and Wilma (Krentz) Bartelt, was born on August 17, 1950 in Minneapolis. He graduated from Henry High School in North Minneapolis and then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on February 9, 1972 and later married Susan Wall on July 1, 1972 at Faith Baptist Church in North Minneapolis. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1990. At the age of 18, he started his 34 year employment at Cream of Wheat in Northeast Minneapolis. He later retired from Malt-O-Meal in Northfield after a few years of employment. Steve enjoyed his motorcycle rides and many different outdoor activities, which included: hunting, fishing, camping, and canoeing at the Boundary Waters. Another interest of his was attending Canterbury Park betting on the horses and playing cards. Steve took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Derrick Bartelt (and fianc Liz) of Bloomington, and Jessica Bartelt (and fianc Jason) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Derrick, Ashley, and Oliver; siblings, Jim Bartelt of Isanti, MN, Anne (Joe) Krekelberg of Blaine, MN and Dan (Micki) Bartelt of Charles City, IA; his mother-in-law, Rosella Wall of Brooklyn Park; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan; parents; sister, Jeannie Bartelt; sister-in-

law, Maggie Bartelt; nephew, Max Bartelt; and father-in-law, Donovan Wall.
