SHELBY JEAN GEYER, age 82 of Waterville died on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.
The daughter of Henry and Nancy (Soreyes) Porter, Shelby was born on October 27, 1936 and raised on the Nett Lake Reservation in Nett Lake, Minnesota. She attended school in Orr, Minnesota and married Glen Geyer on March 4, 1955 in Waterville. She was a homemaker and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad, David and Stacey. They held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed going on long walks with her husband and dogs. Shelby enjoyed the outdoors and being with her family. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends on the reservation over the years. Shelby also enjoyed gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, making homemade soups and turtle that was delicious. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville and the Womens Society.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Ginter and friend, Steve Preston of Waseca, Bruce Geyer and friend, Jean Penman of Waterville, and Colleen Geyer of Waseca; and four grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Don Geyer of Waterville and Ralph (Emma) Geyer of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law, Gloria Geyer of Waterville and Delores Genz of Le Center; special niece, Jamie Kletschka; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on April 29, 2019; brothers, Clifford, Hank, and Joey; and sisters, Mildred, Eunice, Henrietta, and Christine. Private services are being held for the family.
