ROLAND "SWEDE" ROBERT QUAST, age 94 of Morristown died on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Born on November 18, 1923 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of William A. and Louise (Roskos) Quast.  Roland graduated from Waterville High School in 1941 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aviation Machinists Mate stationed in the South Pacific.  He was honorably discharged in 1946.  Roland married Grace V. Long on January 1, 1948 in Hazelton, PA.  He began his farming career as a mink farmer, later advancing to a livestock and crop farmer.  He also did custom corn shelling, worked at Faribault Canning Company and Fahnings of Waterville.  Roland was a lifetime member and past Commander of VFW Post 2633 of Waterville and a member of American Legion Post 149 of Morristown.

He is survived by four sons, Robert of Minneapolis, Gary (Tammy) of Faribault, Darryl (Tamie) and Bruce both of Morristown; four daughters, Cathy (Rodney) Sprau of Elkton, Donna (David) Morsching of Waterville, Patricia (the late Arnie Nicklin) Gregor of Le Center, and Carol (significant other, Douglas Nicolai) Quast of Morristown; 20 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.   He is also survived by one sister, Lorraine Swenson of Waseca; brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Sauers of Wilkes Barre, PA; sister-in-law, Patricia Long of Round Hill, VA; and many nieces.    He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 50 years, Grace; two daughters, Karen and Sharen; one granddaughter, Holly; one sister, Loretta Mertins; eight sisters-in-law; and five brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 3-6 PM and continue on Tuesday, one hour before services at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville.  Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
