Reinhardt (Reiny) Melchert January 12, 1938 - August 24, 2013

Reinhardt "Reiny" Melchert, age 75, of Janesville and formerly of Morristown, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with the Rev. Jack Dahl, officiant. Private family interment will be held at the Concordia Cemetery in North Morristown.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

Arrangements are being completed by the Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory of Janesville.

Reinhardt Albert, the son of Alfred and Selma (Schwichtenberg) Melchert, was born on January 12, 1938, at the family house in North Morristown, Minnesota. He attended Morristown High School and enlisted in the National Guard in 1954. Reiny thoroughly enjoyed the times he spent during his service and later received an honorable discharge in 1965. On October 22, 1966, Reinhardt was united in marriage to Mary "Dolly" Schablitsky at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Following their marriage, they lived in Morristown for many years.

Reiny loved agriculture and farming. He had the privilege of having a careers that focused on bettering the land he loved. He first worked at Land O'' Lakes/Four County Ag as a plant manager for over twenty five years. He was in charge of the Faribault, Waterville, and Morristown areas. After moving to Alexandria in 1987, Reiny began working for AgriPro and then Kaltenberg in district sales manager roles. He later retired in 1998. He and Dolly returned to the Faribault and Janesville areas in 2000.

Reinhardt truly valued the simple things in life. He enjoyed taking rides to check the crops out, playing a good game of euchre, and enjoying a good cup of coffee with family and friends. In their younger years, Reiny and Dolly enjoyed square dancing, helping with the

annual North Morristown Fourth of July Celebration, and fishing both locally and up north. They were also active members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in North Morristown, where Reiny served as an elder and also as a member of the school board.

He is survived by his wife, Dolly of Waseca; his children, Dave (Kari) Melchert of Janesville, Jeanice (Dan) Starry of New Richmond, WI, and Ann (Ryan) Meverden of Redmond, WA; his nine grandchildren, Brandon Melchert, Sara Kopischke, Ryan Melchert, Emily Kopischke, Bethany Starry, Matt Kopischke, Megan Starry, and Olivia and Natalie Meverden; his sister, Phyllis Brown; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Gary Melchert in 1974; his brother Milton Melchert; and by his brothers-in-law, Vern Gates and Gene Brown.
